WELCOME MARCH 2026 Blog with International Awareness Days

Here we are at the beginning of a brand new month, March, the 3rd month of the year, the beginnings of a the new season, the first month of Spring!

March used to be the first month of the year on the early Roman calendar until around 700 BCE. And interestingly it is still the 1st for over 1billion people in some places, namely for the Orthodox Jews which starts their New year on Nisan. Nisan falls between march or April outside the Jewish calendar.  Some parts of India starts the New year around Mesa the March Equinox. And March 21 is Nowruz , new year for Iran and the Middle East, the Balkans, Black Sea and central and Southern Asia.

I personally love this time of the year, days are getting lighter, longer, and slightly warmer ushering that feeling of renewal and reset. Fresh daffodils, early buds, blossoms appearing, colour and there is a simple invitation from nature to come out of the wintery blues. It’s an invitation to come out to play, to rise early with a certain bounce and gaiety in the air as beams of brightness streams in through your windows. Suddenly,  even the chirping of the birds sounds louder and clearer. Speaking of clearer, the fresh blue skies above spreads a canopy of delight. And though there it is still chilly, the air feels welcoming. The crispness just after the dawn is such a great time to go for a brisk walk or jog, before the noisy interruptions  and bustle begins.

People born  between February 20 and March 20 fall under Pisces, and those between March 21 to April 20 Aries. The birthstone for March is  is the aquamarine, which  is a type of beryl which can be pale to dark blue, greenish-blue, or blue-green. The rich deep blue version which tend to be more expensive.

March named after Mars, the Roman god of war signifies a transition from the winter of the Southern Hemisphere with spring arriving in the Northern Hemisphere, with equal day and equal night. This is a good time to start planting new bulbs as well as to watch as nature awakens to new life, our pre-planted annuals springing into beautiful colourful  buds and bloomsSeedlings in Dirt
